Venue

The Pioneer Centre
Cleobury Mortimer
Shropshire
DY14 8JG

The Pioneer Centre is located in the Shropshire countryside, bordering the Wyre Forest and near to the market town of Kidderminster.

The centre is a purpose-built conference and activity centre with excellent facilities, set within a 25 acre site. It has large meeting rooms and lounge areas, and a large dining room. There is plenty of space for adults to relax and children to play safely.

Accommodation

All rooms are en-suite with a mix of bunk and single beds. There are no twin, double or single rooms: most rooms sleep 4 to 5. Families will have their own room, and there are options for young people to be in dorms.

There may be options for couples to be together in their own room. However, in order to maximize the number of places we can offer, we would like adults to consider sharing with friends.

Programme

20 – 22 October 2023  Friday evening to Sunday afternoon

There will be main teaching and worship sessions throughout the weekend. Outside of these, there will be plenty of time to relax, unwind and reflect, plus the opportunity for additional activities and entertainment on Saturday.
You are welcome to join as much or as little of the programme as you wish.

Youth & Children

In addition to the main teaching and worship sessions, we are running children’s and young people’s groups during the main sessions. A crèche will also be available.

Our Speaker

Andy Robinson was pastor of Woodstock Road Baptist Church in Oxford for 19 years, until last summer.  He is now Director of the South Central Ministry Training Course, which trains leaders for a variety of ministries in churches. Andy also works as Training Director for Living Out, which helps churches and Christians talk about faith and sexuality.

Andy lives in Oxford but describes himself as a northerner in exile. He loves to play golf, umpire cricket and watch almost any sport. Most of all though, Andy enjoys speaking about Jesus from the Bible and the comfort and peace He brings into the the complexities of life.

Saturday Afternoon Activities

The choice is yours about how you spend your Saturday afternoon: you may want to relax at the Centre, or explore the nearby Medieval market town of Ludlow.

There is a golf course nearby, and the surrounding countryside is good for cycling. There will also be a group walk from the Centre to make the most of the lovely area.

The Pioneer Centre also offers an exciting package of instructed activities for anyone aged over 8 years. These proved extremely popular on our last weekend away.

For anyone aged over 8 years

  • Abseil/Zip wire
  • Trek Course (a small 'go ape')
  • Indoor Archery
For anyone over 5
  • Inflatable assault course
Participants will rotate round the different activities during the 90-minute session. The cost is £10 per participant.

We appreciate that these are difficult times with the cost of living crisis. With that in mind, we have significantly reduced the cost for under 19s. This means that the total cost for a family of four will be less than in 2021.
